Jain’s Entrepreneurial and Philanthropic Success

Since its founding in 2003, Naveen Jain has remained as the chief executive officer of Intelius, a company with a goal of providing consumers and businesses with information helpful in crucial decision making. He left his post as a senior executive in Microsoft in favor of building his own company. In 1996, he was able to establish InfoSpace, a developer of Internet application services and software. Soon after, he consigned InfoSpace under a new headship and founded another company named Intelius together with other visionaries and former InfoSpace colleagues.

Jain graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology-Roorkee with a BS in engineering degree. He completed his MBA at India’s prestigious XLRI Jamshedpur. He has gained several prestigious honors in the entrepreneurial realm.

As proof of his entrepreneurial excellence, Jain was included in Red Herring’s Top 20 Entrepreneurs and became the recipient of a number of recognitions such as the Albert Einstein Technology Medal Winner, the American Business Award’s Best New Company for Intelius, and the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

As his entrepreneurial success continues to grow, Jain’s active involvement in philanthropic activities also expands. He declares these charitable feats as business enterprises. He and his wife have generously contributed to several local nonprofit organizations such as Hopelink, United Way, Children’s Hospital, Tree House, Vedic Cultural Center, Olive Crest, Bellevue Boys and Girls Club, Kindering Center, Child Rights and You (CRY) India, Overlake Service League, Rotary Club, University Preparatory Academy, and the Indian American Education Foundation. Naveen Jain also supports an undergraduate scholarship program of the University of Washington for students taking up degrees in computer science, engineering and business.

Jain’s dedication to help others extends beyond the personal level. He encourages his employees in Intelius to help foundations by matching every donation they make with up to $250 annually. This kind of commitment has brought them recognition as one of the Top 25 Corporate Philanthropists in the Puget Sound Region by the Puget Sound Business Journal. This is also what sets Naveen Jain and Intelius apart from the rest of the pack.
