Adjustments

Filed under:Casinos + Gambling, Fun Place, Online Games — admin @ 2:52 pm

There’s a fine line to walk between discipline and stubbornness in poker games, and erring to the side of being too stubborn can cost you money in any given game.

Let’s talk about adjustments.

Too many players start to see some success playing poker robotically. Raising with the range of hands they’ve been taught to raise with. Folding when the odds are bad, and only playing when you know you have the nuts.

While at the lower levels, when you have non thinking players you may very well be quite successful with this method. In fact, you may ingrain it so much into your habits, that it’ll be hard for you to do anything else.

This creates two problems at Everest Poker telecharger. Primarily, if you plan on moving up to levels of play where the players are actively watching you and dissecting your every move, then you’ll easily become the exploitable one rather than the one exploiting the bad habits of bad players.

Eventually, the bad players go away, and at that point, you’re stuck having to make decision based on more than just how you were taught. You’ll have to start analyzing odds, and reading the other players.

The second part is that the mechanical play style leaves tons of equity on the table. If you’re always only betting 1/3 pot as a value bet, and you have an opponent you’ve realized is calling down way too often, you 1/3 value bets could be adjusted up to full pot. This is adjusting your strategy. And it works on all the aspects of the game. At a table full of tight passive players, if you stick to only playing tight aggressive styles, then you’re losing the ability to steal a lot of blinds with marginal holdings.

So in order to progress further, you not only have to become more observant of other players ,but you have to adjust your play according to these observations.

Overboard on Over-Cards

Filed under:Casinos + Gambling, Fun Place, Online Games — admin @ 2:34 pm

One of the biggest mistakes a poker player can make is not letting go of a hand when it is beat. This is a common error, and happens most often when a player has “over-cards” – two cards that are higher than any on the board – and stubbornly clings to these cards in hope that a match will hit on the turn or river for high pair.

For instance, you are holding A-J and limp in from late position. The flop brings 9-2-5, missing your big cards entirely. Obviously in this situation, you’re hoping the players in front of you will check so you can see a free card. But hope is not an online poker strategy.

The big blind bets, and it’s reasonable to think the flop did hit that player in some way. You’re drawing to only six outs to hit a higher pair, and there’s no way of knowing if the bettor already hit a set or two pair. Chasing after cards in this situation creates a leak in your game. If you’re only in the pot for one or just a few bets, let it go. Continuing to bet what is essentially a “non-hand” will only whittle away at your chips.

Wait for a better opportunity. Don’t fall in love with over-cards at Everest.

Sky Lanterns in times of Need

Filed under:Fun Place, Social Resources — admin @ 9:53 pm

Sky lanterns have become corresponding with moments of joyfulness, events and festivity. Fairly so. It’s no surprise that since it results in an incredible exhibition which is theatrical and dramatic, it has become a fashionable party accessory. A thoughtful approach of paying tribute to the departure of a cherished one could possibly be expressed by a single sky lantern.

At a certain point in their lives, loss is something every person, young and old, has to deal with. We have to undergo some kind of sorrow and distress as it is a fraction of the human form just as how fondness and hunger are included in our composition. Individuals too have very different ways of coping with it, some prevent it out, some others throw themselves in their grief, others go through delayed distress, and find themselves mourning many years later.

All this appears a dreadfully moody and sad theme designed for a post, however there is a point to it. Nevertheless I would not for a moment imply that sky lanterns make mortality more endurable, they do yet fetch different individuals collectively, allows them the freedom combined with time to gently ponder over their grief.

After a memorial ceremony or funeral letting go of sky lanterns is a kind method of paying tribute to a person that has been lost, in addition it is a physical representation of an emotional release. This is as if you could be letting go a small fraction of your grief, or a small part of the life you’re mourning, as you let the lantern take off. Thus the sky lantern’s past embodies this absolving effect.
A sky lantern is not going to limit sorrow short, but it’ll propose an opening to deal with it head on along with to start- incredibly slowly and extremely certainly- to come to terms with it, also to-in a really trivial approach- let it depart.

On Fairness of Robotic Poker Programs

Filed under:Casinos + Gambling, Fun Place, Online Games — admin @ 9:53 am

There are quite a few poker programs out there that will take down statistical data for you. Some are approved, some are not. Programs like Hold ‘Em Manager, Poker Tracker 3, and Poker CoPilot are among the approved programs, but there comes a time at which the casinos have to say enough is enough. On their own, these programs are perfectly acceptable. They log your hands, and the hands you see. But they also contain the capabilities to add hands from databases of tracked hands. One such program is idleminer, a program designed to sit and watch tables and simply track the stats and playing habits of the players with the user never even having to sit at the table.

This was one of the tactics that lead to the demise of “Isildur1″ when he lost to one of the CardRunner’s members. They had looked at his hand history and found his style of play and leaks. Now I know not everyone uses online poker tracking software, and quite a few use it with their own personal hands, but the question has to come up. Is it fair for someone to have access to a database of hands they’ve never seen against players they’ve never actually played against, and automatically have their HUD give them detailed stats with a hand history of over 10000 hands?

I think not, and a lot of casinos agree as they tend to list programs such as that as Terms of Service violations when used on their sites. But the problem comes when the community as a whole decides to contribute to these databases and make them downloadable for anyone who has tracking software to use. At this point, it seems that anyone with tracking software and a little money can pay a small fee, and automatically have an edge on the players they’re playing against without ever having to earn it. To me this takes away the integrity of the game, and as poker online players, it should for you as well. Poker is a game of observation and alertness, and having the observation done for you just seems like it steals from the very essence of what poker is supposed to be, and how it is supposed to be played.

I think it’s high time we step up to the casinos and have them implement more strict punishments on those caught using such programs to “improve” their game. Don’t get me wrong, I use a stat tracker myself, but I only use my own hands so I can improve MY leaks. Not capitalize on the leaks of others I haven’t used my own skill to deduce and take advantage of. Are you hearing us casinos?

Small Bet, Big Return

Filed under:Casinos + Gambling, Fun Place, Online Games — admin @ 12:34 pm

It sounds counterintuitive, but placing a bet can be a good way to fend off a potential raise before you get to see the next online poker card. I was sitting at a poker table with a 6-7 of Hearts. I was in the big blind and no one raised, so I checked, and the flop came out 5 of Clubs, 8 of Hearts, and King of Spades. There were four other poker players in the pot, and I knew that there was no hope of everybody checking around. One of my opponents had been buying blinds with huge raises all night, and I smelled another attempt coming up. Since I was in an early position, I bet three times the big blind and represented that I had the King. Since I had been playing tight poker all night, my opponents took me at my word and either called or folded. The next card was a four of Clubs, which made my straight and put my opponents in jeopardy. That small bet saved me from facing a raise from an aggressive opponent that would have forced me to fold my hand before that four gave me the nuts. Sometimes a little aggression can end up saving you money.

Khoom Fay are established Thai lanterns, made from thin tissue paper with a bamboo skeleton. The heated air is admitted by a hot fire cell that comes attached to the lanternThe graciously climb up, and produce a great spectacle, peculiarly when discharged at constant time intervals to form a string of lights rise into the sky. Night or day they actually make an affect. Night releases seem more suited to the classic white lanterns whilst Colour lends itself nicely to Thai Lanterns liberated in the day individual opinion of course but i do pride myself on being 100% all of the time.Cautiously take out the Thai Lantern, without tearing the delicate paper. Ensure the lantern is fully extended, and not crinkled or falling sidewise. Holding the top of the lantern is the easiest way to practice this, lifting it a few ft gently, then dropping it acutely. Air force will amplify the unit.Have a supporter light the wick whilst you hold the lantern upright. After a few seconds the lantern will feel lighter, then rise gradually. Just guide it and let it go by itself, do not attempt to throw it up into the air. Then stand back and enjoy. These lanterns are attached for use by experienced pyrotechnic operators. Wear fire retardant clothing and mitts, and have a pail of water handy.

Using the Weakest Move in Poker

Filed under:Casinos + Gambling, Fun Place, Online Games — admin @ 11:30 am

They say that calling is one of the weakest things to do in poker. And while an aggressive style will usually want to use a more aggressive move as often as possible (raising), sometimes you’ll find yourself in situations where simply calling is the best move you can make.

We’ll start with an example. You’re in middle position at a 1/2 table with pocket 8s. You make the standard raise of 4 big blinds to 8 dollars. A loose player in the big blind reraises you 3x your bet to 24 dollars.

There are two courses of action you can take here. You could reraise, but if you get reraised then you’re probably not too happy with your pocket 8s at that point. On the other hand, you could just call and take a flop.

With marginal pocket pairs like 9s-5s I prefer to call to a reraise the majority of the time, simply because 1) your hand isn’t THAT strong to begin with, 2) those kinds of hands can’t stand a reraise, and 3) calling gives you more value in the even that you do flop a set.

So what happened this hand? Well you just called and the flop came A-3-8 rainbow. This is an excellent flop for you. If your poker opponent has a higher pocket pair he didn’t hit a higher set on you and if he’s holding pocket aces, well there’s just not much you can do other than try to get to showdown as cheaply as possible.

However, the majority of the time you’re opponent will be sitting on a high A-x hand such as AK, AQs or AJs. And this is great for you. But how do you extract the most money from your set?

Well if you can put your opponent on a high pocket pair, then you simply check and call. He’ll keep trying to bet you off the pot especially if you’re showing “weakness” by calling. As long as the board doesn’t coordinate on the turn or river you should be golden.

There are only two things you should really be worried about the majority of the time. The board paring two aces and another card pairing. That would give your poker online opponent a higher full house. But if the board isn’t paired and is fairly low and two aces happen to pop up, then get ready to ride the train right to value town.

Cocky or Confident?

Filed under:Casinos + Gambling, Fun Place, Online Games — admin @ 3:25 pm

There is a fine between cocky and confident at the poker online table. If you have too much self confidence, you run the dangerous risk of making poor decisions. It backfires and you are left off worse than you started. Most poker online players know this and will try to avoid stupid mistakes. They try to keep their egos in check because they play better when they look at each hand closely. When they get too confident, they think that their skill will pull them through instead of realizing the importance of the cards. It’s all about being careful.

I would like to suggest another reason to avoid the dangers of cockiness: it is a tell. Obviously you should avoid visible tells at all times because they give your opponents an edge over you. If you suddenly start acting like you have a pair of pocket Aces up your sleeve, what are the other players supposed to think? Anytime you dramatically change your behavior you will draw attention to yourself.

Especially for new poker online players it is hard to find the dividing line between cocky and confident. Even if you don’t want to find it for yourself, find it for your bankroll. Over confidence is the first step to losing the pot.

Fending off the no Fold ‘Em’s

Filed under:Casinos + Gambling, Fun Place, Online Games — admin @ 12:50 pm

Texas Hold ‘Em online poker and casino games attract all types of poker players. Good poker players know they must fold more hands than they play. But there are some players who engage in a “No Fold ‘Em” style that is extremely frustrating to savvy poker players.

No Fold ‘Em players are typically found in cash games, usually at the lower limit tables, though some also will sit at the 30/60 tables and up. These players are looking for a gambling thrill and relying on luck to win anything. Because the betting is limited and capped at a fixed amount, they know the amount they can lose is a fixed amount for each hand. They can’t fold in the face of a raise, and they go to the river every time. This is where bad beats happen – when the No Fold ‘Em player hits the inside straight or trips on the river.

The only way to play against this type is to be tight and aggressive. You are not going to drive this player off the pot, so you can only play premium cards. If the flop is rags, then fold. If your pockets complete to a winning hand, or even the nuts, then bet out a raise to the No Fold ‘Em player. Since you can’t put them off a pot, you might as well let them build a bigger one for you.

Win Big in Later, Not Sooner, in Poker Tournaments

Filed under:Casinos + Gambling, Fun Place, Online Games — admin @ 10:40 am

Win big later, not sooner. In a Hold ‘Em poker tournament, sometimes it seems detrimental to win big hands early on. I’ve always done better in tournaments when I survive early on, then win bigger at the final poker tables.

I’ve noticed that when I win big hands early on in a tournament, I eventually lose the stack that I’ve accumulated, but when I win later on in the game, I tend to finish near the top of the heap. I’ve spent a long time trying to figure out exactly why that is, and I think that it’s because I get a lot more aggressive as the big blind, and people don’t seem to fold to bullying as much early on, so I end up giving a lot of chips away, and by the time the blinds are bigger, my stack has dwindled and I’m fighting for my life. The key to keeping your stack when you win big early on is to protect your chips and play strong, yet conservative until later in the game. Play your poker game as if you hadn’t tripled up early on and later when your opponents are trying to get to the money, start putting their chips at risk, and your bully tactics will be much more effective.
